During our first sessions we talked about the different components of the nervous system from the neurons and glial cells to the Central and Periphery Nervous Systems. We also delved into the different pathologies and diseases concerning the nervous system and explored the symptoms and potential treatments for each.
During our later session, we expanded on the knowledge we had gained about the nervous system and learnt how to take a medical history of a patient using the acronym P3 MAFTOSA. Our students then practiced these skills in a Doctor-patient simulation where they took the medical history of a fake patient experiencing one of the neurological pathologies from the previous session, and were challenged to identify the diagnoses and next steps which needed to be taken based on the information they gathered.
